In Central New York, your living room is the center of family comfort—until drafty windows make it impossible to stay warm in winter or cool in summer.
When dealing with older homes across Rome, NY, primary living spaces often feature classic double-hung window banks. Over time, however, wood frames warp, original seals fail, and operational hardware seizes up. Homeowners find themselves paying an expensive "comfort tax"—forcing their air conditioning and heating systems to work overtime while drafty air leaks right through the glass.
We recently executed a custom living room window transformation in Rome, NY that turned a drafty focal point into an airtight, energy-efficient sanctuary.
Living Room Drafts & High Utility Bills
The living room is where families spend the majority of their time, making window performance critical. When older glass loses its thermal efficiency, intense summer humidity and freezing winter winds penetrate straight into the room, causing thermostat battlegrounds and skyrocketing utility bills.
The Sash Solution: We custom-manufactured three Premier Double-Hung (PDH) vinyl replacement windows specifically sized for the home's living room opening. Each window was built with high-performance Double Pane Argon-Filled Glass (DA) to create a dense thermal barrier, keeping indoor temperatures perfectly stable year-round.
Historic Lead-Paint Hazards During Removal
Because a large portion of Rome’s housing stock was built prior to 1978, pulling out original window frames and wood trim can release hazardous lead dust directly into your home's air and floor coverings.
The Sash Solution: As a Lead-Safe Certified company, our factory-trained installation crew executed strict lead containment procedures prior to removing the old units. We prepped the work area, safely extracted the worn frames without contaminating the living space, and ensured complete, certified cleanup upon completion.
